The company
Raftákn ehf. was founded 1976 and is an electrical Consulting company.
Employees are 25, engineers and technicians along with office staff.
Raftákn has established, documented and implemented quality management system based on ISO 9001/2008 standards and we are now in the process of having it certified according to ISO 9001. Raftákn´s aim is to have fully ceritfied Quality management system by the end of may 2011.
At first the major work was based on consulting- and supervising work in connection with domestic electrical installations, such as office buildings etc.
Still today this is an important part of the projects, especially in connection with security systems, alarm- and surveillance systems, computer networks etc.
The last 15 years our major work has been in connection with industrial systems. The projects have been Power Plants, Freezing Plants (Seafood Plants), Fish Meal Factories and drying plants, Fish farms (Breeding Stations), Food- and Dairy Plants and last but not least heating distribution systems, etc.The scope of work has been design and supervision of all electrical installations, electrical power installations, control systems based on conventional equipment along with the latest computer technique using intelligent PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), operator communication and visualisation systems, Supervision Control and data Acquisition (SCADA).
For the last 4 years we have been working in Hellisheidarvirkjun (Geothermal Power Plant) see:: http://www.or.is/English/Projects/HellisheidiGeothermalPlant/. Raftakn is subcontractor from Siemens AG, Erlangen Germany for Programming the Control system of the Plant in PCS 7 and the SCADA system WinCC.
Programmable Logic Controller’s
Most of the PLC we have been using are manufactured by Siemens or Telemecanique. The type of PLC we have been using from Siemens are S5 95U, S5 115U, S5 135U, S7 300, S7 400 and SICAM RTU. The type of PLC we have been using from Telemecanique are the Micro TSX37 and Premium TSX 57. All these PLC´s are capable of communicating with the SCADA system we have been using.
Network’s
For communications the PLC´s we have been using PROFIBUS, Industrial Ethernet, SINAUT, Modbus, UNI Teleway and Instabus (EIB) for lighting systems.
SCADA System’s
Raftákn has installed between 90 and 100 SCADA systems of various sizes. The system is an Interactive Graphics Supervision System (IGSS) manufactured by Seven Technologies in Denmark. The system is called IGSS32 (32 for 32 bit) and is one of the most advanced systems available. It is widely used in Scandinavia and in other European countries where it has also been introduced as OS32 and LSA. The system runs on standard PC hardware and is state of the art in the field of plant supervision. Based on the Microsoft® WindowsTM standard, its appealing graphical and object-oriented user interface makes IGSS32 a highly efficient tool for both the system designer and the plant operator. In co-operation with Seven Technologies we have translated the system in Icelandic and IGSS32 is the only SCADA system available in the Icelandic language. The system can send Alarm messages (SMS, Short Message Service) to cellular phones when triggered.
